Refund & Commitment

Ensuring fairness, accountability, and the protection of donor-funded opportunities.

I. Purpose

GHMS requires a $499 USD refundable Commitment Deposit to:

  • Protect donor-funded opportunities
  • Prevent no-shows, academic negligence, or unprofessional behavior
  • Ensure fairness for all applicants competing for limited spaces

This is not a tuition fee. GHMS education is free.

The deposit is 100% refundable upon successful completion of student obligations.

II. Refund Eligibility

A full refund is provided when the student:

  • Completes required coursework
  • Attends mentorship sessions with preparation
  • Demonstrates consistent professional conduct
  • Follows the academic integrity policy
  • Finishes the GHMS program in good standing
Note: Refunds are processed only after graduation or official program completion.

III. Forfeiture Conditions

The deposit is forfeited if the student:

  • Withdraws without approved reason
  • Fails to participate responsibly
  • Repeatedly misses classes or mentorship sessions
  • Abandons the program or internship unprofessionally
  • Violates Conduct, Harassment, or Academic Integrity Policies
  • Lies or falsifies documents during enrollment or training
Note: Forfeiture protects donor investments and ensures fairness.

IV. Compassionate Exception Clause

Students who must withdraw for legitimate reasons may apply for a Full Exception Refund.

Eligible causes include:

  • Medical emergency (student or direct dependent)
  • Family crisis or death
  • War, political conflict, or forced relocation
  • Documented financial catastrophe
  • Severe mental health crisis verified by a professional
Note: Students must communicate respectfully and provide documentation when possible.
Note: Exceptions are granted by the GHMS Compassion Council, independently of mentors or sponsors.

V. Hardship Pause Option (Instead of Withdrawal)

Students facing life challenges may request a Pause Status, allowing them to:

  • Delay their program without penalty
  • Return at a future intake (one reinstatement allowed)
  • Keep their deposit refundable as long as they return responsibly

Students who disappear without communication are not eligible.

VI. Removal & Deposit Outcome

If removed due to misconduct, academic cheating, harassment, discrimination, or exploitation:

  • Deposit is forfeited
  • Student may not return without formal approval
  • Removal protects the safety and reputation of GHMS

VII. Impact on Mobility Funding

Students who forfeit their deposit:

  • Lose eligibility for mobility scholarships
  • Lose access to funded visas, flights, housing, and insurance
Note: Students who withdraw responsibly under the Compassion Clause may still be considered for future scholarships.

VIII. Refund Method & Timing

Refunds are issued:

  • Digitally (original payment method preferred)
  • Within 60–120 days after completion, confirmation, or compassionate approval
  • With a 4.99% deduction transaction fee
